GB Grid Monitor

GB Grid Monitor is a Python server feeding energy data from various sources to an html dashboard for monitoring the GB electricity and gas supplies in real time. It also shows rain, river levels and flood warnings for England (from the Environment Agency), and — if you’re an Octopus Energy customer — your own household electricity and gas usage and costs.

Free API keys from openweathermap.org and Octopus Energy are optional. The national electricity and gas pages will run fine without them, but your experience will be a lot better with them.

**Python must be running on your machine in order to run the server, which retrieves all the data**

Work-in-progress

The next update will use the Octopus Agile API to pull more detailed tariff information from your account – but you’ll need to input your Octopus account number(s). Remember – account information is kept on your local machine and is NOT shared over the web. The current version uses fixed tariff rates, which is not appropriate for people on flexible tariffs.
