Don't miss another meteor shower... receive meteor activity alerts via email!

This was the first website to offer a live "meteor activity indicator". Now another first! It can offer you "High" or "Very-High" meteor shower activity alerts, (almost) direct via email!

Two alert levels are available. Please subscribe to both for the fullest alert coverage. The trigger levels are now changing hourly, shadowing the diurnal cycle of ups and downs. With this UNIQUE system, it's now possible to have a high alert at 17h UTC if a meteor shower comes along at that time, which was highly unlikely using fixed trigger levels.

This graphic illustrates how the the trigger levels vary during the day.

RRD Weblog Via Email is an email feed of news and information direct from the G7IZU Radio Reflection Detection Weblog. The email subscribe link is on the right-hand side. The email feed is hosted by Topica.

From 02.07.2007, the alert emails are hosted by Freelists.org.

From 10.06.2008 both high and very-high alerts will be sent to the "alert-h" address. To only receive very-high alerts subscribe ONLY to the vh-alert address.

Select the alert lists you'd like to receive. Enter your email address below, choose the action required and click "Go!" It's that easy! You may also set yourself to "vacation" to temporarily stop receiving mails, or  unsubscribe.

VERY HIGH ALERTS ONLY:

As always, the alert service remains completely free.

EMAIL FREQUENCY
When a subscribed-for activity level is triggered, you should receive one alert email. Should that alert level still be active six hours later, you will receive another, and again every six hours (high) or 24 hours (very high) if it continues.

If you are subscribed to both alert levels, you will get a new email each  time the alert level changes, although you won't receive two emails from the same alert level within six hours (in theory!) If the PC the system is operating on gets restarted, a fresh alert may be issued regardless if an alert level is active.

Should any alert emails be issued in error (due to signal interference or other factors), I will issue a "False Alert" message, as soon as I can, to whichever levels were triggered.

The Weblog via email has subscribed to it a few automatic alert systems, such as the DX Robot which monitors auroral and sporadic-E amateur radio contacts. By nature, these are intermittent, but are occasionally very active. Also posted there are information and admin. messages from me which are relevant to this website.

HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE
Click on the "Easy unsubscribe" link in the alert email.

NOTE
This system is under constant review. If you start receiving excessive emails from the alert systems, or think that the system has been compromised in some way or not working, please contact me urgently to let me know.

METEOR ACTIVITY INDICATOR KEY:
The trigger levels for these states are now adjusted hourly.
"No data" = 0 (zero - usually occurs after I've rebooted or changed something - it may be there for up to an hour or so)
"Low"
"Active"
"High"
"Very High"
"Cannot count meteors!" Constant carriers detected!

The "trend" graph shows the previous five hours' activity, with the latest hour on the right.
